On the Cusp of...

...something. Greatness? Frustration? A damned fine cocktail?

Funny thing: I haven't finished any of the short plays I'm working on, but I've already submitted a couple of Anachronism articles for TriKing's website, and I'm knee-deep in organizational writing at my job. And I've been writing quick drafts for whenever Samizdat finally comes roaring back (stupid issues with podcasting simultaneously from two separate cities).

Speaking of, go ahead and check out the Samizdat Radio page. I just finished a short reflection on a Newsweek article about Christianity, its pagan roots, and graveyards. It's a lot more shallow than it sounds. And it's the kind of weird topic you can expect... when Samizdat comes roaring back.

Besides that, I'm this close to getting a monthly writers' group together. Here goes nothing...

First Snow.

See that timestamp? Yeah, that marks the official first snow of the season in Chicago. From my window on the 34th floor of a downtown financial building, I can see the few flakes that--

Wait, did I say few? Scratch that. In the last minute, we've gone to a full-fledged snowstorm. Thicker flakes, and a serious wind roaring around the Loop. Hell's yeah.

Snow, bitch.

Opposite Weeks

So, the last week of September was crap. Really bad. I think it realized that I'm a fan of October, and it wreaked havoc on me.

The first week of October, though? Bloody great. CanĂ³ got his recognition, the Yankees were knocked out of the playoffs, and I finally got my new CTA card. I got drunk with my co-workers, I was informed that I might be hired on as a full-time employee, and I've come up with a scarily good script idea. I hung out with John & Tracey & Timmy & Megan, I picked up the new Samiam album, and I had a great conversation with my father. Oh, and Steph and I set a date for the big day. Well, a weekend, really.

Seriously... this weekend was impossibly good. Yay, October.
